San Francisco Bound
I will be performing with NomiS @ USF next Monday and Thursday. This will be my first time performing outside of Southern California so i’m pretty hyped. On the agenda this week:
- Knock out cuts for NomiS’s new EP.
- Finish a new scratch routine
- **Finish a mixtape to pass out up there
The best part about the shows is that they are a couple days apart, which give us time to chill in the city. I love it out there. I wanted to move there for a long time, but for now I am content with just visiting. I’ll be documenting the whole trip so stay tuned.

Antidote Mix 01
This is the first mix I ever recorded (well, technically the second but I cant find the first one which is probably a good thing). I did this in 2007 as a promo for The Antidote. Vinyl Mix Practice 01
Theres something refreshing about spinning vinyl. Technology is moving quick… but every DJ should at least do it every once in a while. No waveforms, no cuepoints, no relative mode..
Scratch Practice 01
I haven’t cut since Artoo’s show last week, so when I tried to knock out some cuts on a couple songs for some friends of mine it just wasn’t working out. Instead I spent most of the night practicing and I recorded a bit of it. Excuse the sloppiness.
Working on those songs first thing tomorrow morning.
Mellow Drum Addict – Corner of Broadened Mind
I got a package today from my homie Mellow Drum Addict with his new cd ‘Corner of Broadened Mind’. I had the honor of blessing the album with cuts on a couple of tracks. The whole album is produced by Maker and features Grip Grand, Ariano, Miki Vale, SameOldJake, Verbal Kent, Rabbi Darkside, I-Be, Maverick Sabre, Asylum 7, Kahil Abdu, Enaate, Arablak.
I have yet to listen to the whole album but I really dug the tracks I was able to get on and i’m sure the rest of the album is dope. It will definitely be in heavy rotation for a minute. MDA is a talented artist and good people in general. Release date TBA, but ill keep you guys posted.

Another Beat
First of all, I should probably be working on cuts for NomiS and Some/Jar but i’ll try to get to that later tonight…
Anyway, I got inspired to get on the MPC today when I saw that my homie Sepat was working on stuff. I started making this beat and halfway through I decided that there was nothing I can do to salvage it, but I wanted to try to “finish” it anyway after Sepat convinced me to lower my expectations and finish for the sake of experimentation. This one definitely isn’t a “rap” beat like the last one. I’m still learnin my way around the mpc, but I’m getting a little bit faster at doing the things I do know how to do (which isn’t much at the moment). It’s not complete, more like an “idea” than a beat but I decided to put it up anyway cause it is the point this blog right? More to come.

I got a MPC 1000 a couple months back and just started to learn how to use it. I’m pretty new to making beats so I know i’m going to have to pay dues and make a bunch of wack ones before I come up with some decent stuff. I made this beat a couple months ago and haven’t touched my MPC much since but now that I have a lot of time i’m going to push myself to really learn how to use this thing.
